Understand what came back

Your partner replies with an acknowledgement, and there are three common outcomes. A TA1 confirms the envelope arrived intact; that is the outer wrapper, not the contents. A 997 or 999 reports whether the documents inside were accepted. Accepted means processing completed. Accepted with errors means it went through but still needs attention. Rejected means it did not. Signal translates the codes and identifies the segment involved. If it is rejected, open fix and resend next.

What to notice

  1. TA1: the envelope arrived
  2. 997 / 999: the contents were accepted
  3. Accepted with errors still needs attention
  4. Rejected? Fix and resend is next

If it is rejected, open fix and resend next.
