How I is used
The default certification type for new prior-auth requests. An initial request establishes the certification that later renewals, extensions, revisions, or cancellations refer back to (via the certification/authorization number returned in the response).
Example
A provider requests authorization for a new course of physical therapy: UM02 = I on the first 278 for that episode.
