How AR is used
Sent in UM01 at the service level (2000F) or patient event level (2000E) of a 278 request. Typically paired with an admission date, facility information, and a certification type in UM02 indicating whether this is an initial request, renewal, or extension of an existing certification.
Example
A hospital's UM department submits a 278 with UM01 = AR to request certification for a planned inpatient surgical admission before the patient arrives.
